Bumblefoot, l’asso della double neck sbarca al CrossRoads sulle note di Sweet child of mine

Sorprende Bumblefoot, fin dal principio, fin da quando, ore 22.00, si appresta, in maniera discreta e quasi timida, a salire sul palco del Crossroads di Roma, in un freddo 15 dicembre.

Un Chitarrista, che quanto a tecnica, non ha nulla da invidiare a nessuno, ma che, sicuramente, ha da essere invidiato.

Virtuosismi, allegria e buon umore, sono gli indiscussi padroni, di un Ron Thal, questo il suo nome all’anagrafe, divertente e divertito, coinvolgente e coinvolto, che si vede accompagnato alla batteria da Dennis Leeflang e da due italiani, Simone Massimi e Nazzareno Zacconi, rispettivamente basso e chitarra.

Sorriso che abbaglia, giacca di pelle, camicia aperta, ed una lunga barbetta, buffamente raccolta in una treccia abbellita da un nastro, e tanta, tantissima ironia.

Pur essendo l’attuale chitarra solista dei Guns n’ Roses, o di quel che ne rimane, Bumblefoot è, innanzitutto, un bravissimo cantante e compositore, un quanto mai gagliardo showman.

Dopo aver spiegato al pubblico che per lui è la regola dimenticare plettri e setlist, comincia con Abnormal, tratta dall’omonimo album, ed è da subito chiaro a tutti che si è di fronte a un asso della chitarra doppio manico, uno dei quali fretless.

Brano dopo brano, ineluttabilmente, si riconferma la perizia tecnica, compositiva e canora, di questo artista dall’innata attitudine punk/rock.

Serata di prime volte, la sua, poiché, per fortuna di chi è lì ad assistere, alcuni brani, mai suonati dal vivo prima d’ora, vengono eseguiti live in questa occasione.

Real, Turn Around e Some Other Guy, continuano a stupire e deliziare il pubblico in sala, mentre le sonorità più melodiche e dolci di Simple Days, dimostrano quanto la sua voce si presti alle più svariate tonalità.

Sulle note di Guitars Suck e Normal, si ribadisce quanto questo piccolo uomo (solo nell’altezza e nel peso) sia un fenomeno della sei corde, tecnica, padronanza e grande velocità di esecuzione, in virtuosismi che sono in grado di inebriarti di suoni.

Si prosegue con un Bumblefoot sempre più simpatico che racconta come il cibo, qui in Italia, è meglio del sesso, puntualizzando poi che, probabilmente, questo è almeno meglio del sesso con lui.

Glad To Be Here e Rockstar For A Day inducono a pensare che a essere lieti di averlo in Italia, è il pubblico e che rockstar non lo è certo per un giorno.

Ha voglia di esibirsi e lo dimostra perfino quando, scendendo dal palco, senza smettere di suonare per un solo istante, si fa fotografare, sorridente e compiaciuto, facendo gioire molti.

E si arriva a lei, alla prima delle cover, The Pink Panther Theme, composizione strumentale datata 1963 di Henry Mancini, delizia e diletto.

Run To The Hills degli Iron Maiden, Can’t Stand Losing You dei Police e More Than a Feeling dei Boston, appongono il sigillo definitivo, ribadendo ai presenti, quanto questa ugola sia portentosa.

Immancabili quanto forse doverosi i pezzi dei Guns n’ Roses che, sulle note di Estranged, vedono al microfono un ragazzo del pubblico, giacché l’istrionico Bumblefoot, non ne ricorda le parole.

Don’t Cry e Sweet Child Of Mine rimandano ai ricordi dei primi Guns, ma c’è spazio anche per due brani tratti dall’ultimo album (Chinese Democracy n.d.r), quello cui lo stesso chitarrista ha preso parte attivamente, Catcher In The Rye e There Was a Time.

Sembra ormai una jam session con un pubblico che chiede e un Bumblefoot che esegue; accenni musicali che spaziano dagli Zeppelin ai Judas Priest, passando per White Snake e Kinks.

Finisce così questa esibizione con un sentito grazie da chi era sopra e da chi era sotto il palco, con un musicista che si conferma anche una gran persona, genuina e spontanea, che firma autografi, si fa fotografare e parla scherzosamente con chiunque gli si avvicini.

Bumblefoot, the ace of the double neck arrives at the CrossRoads to the tune of Sweet child of mine

Surprisingly Bumblefoot , from the beginning, since, at 22.00, is preparing, in a discreet and almost shy to get on stage at the Crossroads of Rome, on a cold December 15.

A Guitarist, who as a technique, it has nothing to envy anyone, but that certainly has to be envied.

Virtuosity, cheerfulness and good humor are the undisputed masters of a Ron Thal , this is his birth certificate, entertaining and fun, engaging and involved, which is sees accompanied on drums by Dennis Leeflang and two Italians, Simone Massimi and Zacconi Nazarene , bass and guitar respectively.

Smile that dazzles, leather jacket, open shirt, and a long beard, comically collection in a braid with a bow, and lots and lots of irony.

Though the current lead guitarist of Guns n 'Roses , or what remains of it, Bumblefoot is, above all, a talented singer and composer, an extremely strong showman.

Having explained to the audience that he is the rule picks and setlists forget, begins with Abnormal , is drawn from the album, and it is now clear to everyone that you are in front of an Ace double neck guitar, one of which fretless.

Song after song, inevitably, it reconfirms the technical expertise, composition and singing, this artist innate aptitude punk / rock.

Evening of the first times, its because, fortunately for those who are there to assist, some songs never played live before , are performed live on this occasion.

Real , Turn Around and Some Other Guy , continue to amaze and delight the audience while the sound more melodic and sweet Simple Days , demonstrating how his voice lends itself to the most varied shades.

To the tune of Guitars Suck and Normal , it reiterates what this little guy (only in height and weight) is a phenomenon of the six strings, technique, mastery and great speed of execution, in which virtuosity can inebriarti sounds.

It continues with a Bumblefoot increasingly sympathetic that tells how the food here in Italy, it is better than sex, pointing out that, probably, at least this is better than sex with him. Glad To Be Here and Rockstar For A Day lead us to think that to be happy to have him in Italian, is the audience and it is not certain that rock star for a day.

has a desire to perform and it shows even when, coming down from the stage, without stop playing for a moment, takes pictures, smiling and pleased, many enjoy doing.
