GUNS N' ROSES PARAGUAY A RON "BUMBLEFOOT" THAL Como Fan Page Guns N’ Roses Paraguay accedimos a una entrevista con el guitarrista líder de Guns N’ Roses, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, la entrevista estaba prevista para comienzos de Enero pero fue pospuesta por el entrevistado, siendo respondido el dia de hoy, gracias por la amabilidad de Ron, Aquí esta la entrevista, GRACIAS A USTÉDES por tu paciencia J Espero que a ti y a los lectores les guste (: Ron! Pd: No hace falta que preguntes sobre el Rock And Roll Hall of Fame porque en la banda nadie hablo sobre eso y no tenemos info sobre eso… eso me dijo días anteriores por mensajes privados GN’R PY: Bumblefoot, Tu debut con GN’R fue el 12 de mayo del 2006, como te sentiste como músico debutar con una de las mayores bandas del mundo? Ron: Yo estuve chateando con GN’R y tirando algunos planes, estaba dentro y fuera por dos años y vino todo junto en el ultimo momento, con 7 rapidos ensayos. Tomando el escenario por primera vez estuve bien con todo. Las personas son personas, Yo no la veo como una banda grande o chica, somos hombres haciendo música juntos lo demás es externo y de la percepción de las otras personas- GN’R PY: en una entrevista antigua mencionaste que tu canción favorita de GN’R es Don’t Cry. Aprendiste esa canción antes de entrar a GN’R o después? Ron: Yo aprendí Don’t Cry cuando salio , hace 15 años antes de que me una a la banda. En las primeras semanas que me uní, los fans me escribieron muchísimo preguntando si podíamos tocar ese tema- Nosotros no pudimos, por eso yo lo hize “Dar a la gente lo que ellos quieren” GN’R PY: Como guitarrista, quien es tu mayor influencia y cuales son tus bandas favoritas? Ron: Eddoe Van Halen tiene la mayor influencia como guitarrista para me. Me inspiro a mi para empezar a hacer mis propias guitarras y a experimentar con diferentes técnicas. Mis primeros amores musicales fueron The Beatles y Kiss. The Beatle me hizo amar la música, Kiss me hizo querer subir al escenario GNR’ PY: Como te sentiste al tocar aquí en Paraguay? Que sentís al tocar en países distintos? No solo en los “Paises Grandes”? Gn’r hizo Historia aquí! Ron: Hay algo emocionante en tocar en lugares que nunca estuve, especialmente donde la banda nunca estuvo. Yo tuve un lindo momento en Paraguay, las personas eran muy amables J Yo estaba muy drogado para superar la gira (Lesion de la columna por un accidente automovilístico) y algunas veces la combinación de drogas no funcionaron muy bién.Despues de dejar Paraguay me di cuenta que estaba gritándole a la gente en el aeropuerto y paré de respirar por unos momentos en el avión. GN’R PY: Tu siempre seguiste a GN’R incluso antes de entrar en el mundo de la música? Ah, estube en el mundo de musica desde antes que hubiera un GNR. Su primera banda, demos y experiencias fueron a finales de 1970 cuando tenía 7 años. Me encantaron los GNR desde la primera vez que les escuché, hace 25 años, haciendo zapping a las 3 de la mañana y viendo el video Jungla por primera vez Le hablé a mi amigo sobre una interesante banda que había visto... GN’R PY: Cual es tu opinión acerca de Axl y GN’R? Te sentís comodo sobre tocar músicas que tu no compusiste? RON: Yo soy muy feliz al tocar músicas que la audiencia quiere tocar no me importa quien la escribió. Pudo haber sido por mi, por el hombre que esta alado mio en el escenario o alguien que ya no esta en la banda, esta todo bien. Yo disfruto tocando música. Yo lanzo mis propios temas y produzco otras bandas. Produci tantas canciones fuera de GN’R, entre entre canciones que escribi y co-escribi hay alrededor de 200 temas en los últimos 20 años que fueron comercialmente lanzadas y fueron tocadas en vivo, en albums, en radio, Tv/Film, videojuegos y otras personas haciendo covers de mis temas… Si yo escribo canciones con GN’R en el futuro, incluso mejor, quiero escribir. Esta alineación debería estar lanzando música.Durante años yo hable acerca de mis deseos para la banda de escribir una canción antes de cada parte de la gira “Quisiera ir al estudio y grabar una canción, tocar esa canción en la gira y hacer lo mismo para la otra gira” Si hacíamos eso hiriamos a tener un álbum nuevo de música ahora mismo. En mi propio mundo eso pudiera haber pasado, pero realmente es mucho mas complicado de lo que parece, hay un monton de trabajo envuelto antes de que la música pueda ser lanzada. GN’R Py: Es impresionante en status, reconocimiento y ventas que a logrado la nueva banda. Tu estas en una banda que por fortuna no suena comercialemente, no tienen singles para FM, el publico se adapta a ustedes. Ustedes están logrando este éxito por su trabajo. Estan felices como banda ver este reconocimiento y suceso? Ron: Yo simplemente no pienso mucho sobre eso. Yo hago lo mejor que puedo y espero que a la gente le guste (: Así de Simple (: GN’R PY: La banda toco Estranged, Civil War, Mama Kin, Death Flowers, las tocaron por presión de los fans? Ron: Nosotros tocamos esas canciones porque a los Fans les gusta, nos gustan tocarlas todo por buenas razones (: GN’R PY: Chinese Democracy es ÉL disco de la nueva banda, con nuevas personas. Por qué la banda toca tantos covers teniendo semejante álbum? Cuando escucharemos There Was a Time, Prostitute o una nueva canción? Bumblefoot, your debut with GNR was the May 12, 2006, how you felt as a musician debut with one of the biggest bands in the world? I had been chatting with GNR and throwing around plans, on and off for almost two years, and it all came together in the last moment, with 7 quick rehearsals. Stepping on stage for the first time, I was fine with it all - people are people, I didn't see them as a big band or little band, we were guys makin' music together, anything else was external and other people's perception. In a old interview you mentioned that your favorite song is Don't Cry, You learned that song before enter In GN’R or later? I knew Don't Cry from when it first came out, 15 years before I joined. In the first weeks I joined, fans wrote to me a lot asking if we could play the song - we didn't, so I did. Give the people what they want. As a guitarist, who’s your greatest influence and what are your favorite bands? Eddie Van Halen had the biggest guitar playing influence on me. Inspired me to start building my own guitars, and to experiment with different playing techniques. My first two musical loves were the Beatles and Kiss as a kid. The Beatles made me love music, Kiss made me want to get on stage.... How did you feel when you play here in Paraguay? What’s your feeling of play in new countrys, not only in “the big ones”? GN’R maked History here in Paraguay! There's something exciting about playing places I've never been, especially where the band has never been. Had a great time in Paraguay, people were loving. I was heavily drugged to get through the tour (spine injury from recent car accident) and sometimes the combinations of drugs didn't work so well. After we left Paraguay I found out I was 'growling' at people in the airport, and had stopped breathing a few times on the plane. You always followed the GNR even before entering the world of music? Ahh, I've been in the world of music since before there was a GNR My first band, demos, gigs, merch, all of that was in the late 1970's when I was 7 years old. I was into Guns from the first time I heard them 25 years ago, randomly flipping channels on the TV at 3 in the morning and seeing the Jungle video for the first time, telling a friend the next day about an interesting band I saw on MTV the night before..... What's your opinion about Axl and GN'R? Do you feel comfortable about playing songs that you didn't compose? I'm very happy to play music the audience wants to hear, doesn't matter who wrote it. Could be written by me, by the guy next to me on stage, or someone that's no longer on the stage, it's all fine, I enjoy playing music. I release my own music and produce other bands, I've written so many songs outside of GNR, between songs I wrote and co-wrote, there's been about 200 songs in the last 20 years that were commercially released and have been played live, been on albums, on radio, TV/film, videogames, other people covering my songs... if I write songs with GNR in the future, even better. I'd like to. This line-up really should be releasing music. For years I've been vocal about my 'wish list', to have the band write one song before every leg of a tour - we hit the studio and bang out a song, we play that song live during that tour, then we do the same for the next leg of the tour. If we did that there would be a full album of music by now. In my own world that's what I would have liked to see happen, but in reality it's more complicated than that, there's a lot of business involved before music can be released. Just my thinking aloud, wishful thinking. It's amazing the
status, recognition, and sales that have reached the current band.
You are in a group which, fortunately, does not sound commercial
singles in the FM's, and adapts to any type. Your success are
achieving on your own right. How is the level of happiness that has
the band to see how this massive success and recognition? How do you
feel you individually, and feels the group in general? We play songs because fans like them, we like them, they're fun to play, all for good reasons Chinese Democracy is the disc of a new band, with new persons. Why the band's playing covers having such a great album? When we're gonna hear There was a Time ,Prostitute or a new song? On stage I'm ready to play any song off Chinese... or make up any new song on the spot. Say the word, I'm ready. Gracias!! Ron “Bumblefoot Thal”
