1. Salut Bumblefoot! Tu as récemment sorti ton nouvel album “Abnormal”. Sûrement le plus influence par le Punk de ta discographie. L’as-tu écrit avec un concept spécial en tête, comme pour « Uncool » ?

Bumblefoot : Salutations! L’album « Abnormal » m’est venu sans plan, les chansons inondaient mon cerveau et commençaient à sortir. C’était tout ce que j’étais en train de ressentir, et l’attitude de l’album était juste mon attitude du moment. Ce n’était pas un concept album comme « Normal », mais c’était une continuité de « Normal », comme le chapitre suivant d’une histoire personnelle. Les textes parlent de choses dans ma vie qui n’étaient pas là avant, et quelques histoires de ce que d’autres personnes vivent.

2. Il n’y a pas d’autres musiciens mentionnés pour ce nouvel album. As-tu tout fait toi-même ou bien y a t’il eu quelques musiciens invités qui ont joué dessus ?

B : A la toute fin des textes dans le livret, il y a les participants. Pas beaucoup, mais ils sont là, haha. Dennis Leeflang à la batterie, les membres du groupe de « pirate métal » « Swashbuckle » aux backing vocals, un joueur de tuba, quelques chanteurs d’opéra. J’ai monté un concours très tôt cette année pour trouver des chanteurs d’opéra pour l’album et les gagnants ont chanté dessus.

3. Tu es maintenant guitariste pour les Guns n’Roses… Comment te sens-tu, de jouer dans un groupe si légendaire?

B : C’est génial, beaucoup de bons moments. Mais je ne sens rien de différent. Je m’essuie le cul dans la même direction que je le faisais avant de jouer dans les Guns.

4. Pour en finir à propos des Guns n’Roses, est ce que le nouvel album « Chinese Democracy » est réellement déjà enregistré? Quand cet album sera t’il finalement disponible?

B : Oui, j’ai terminé l’écriture et joué toutes mes parties de guitare pour l’album, et nous espérons que ça pourra sortir aussi rapidement que le mois prochain. J’espère que tout pourra être résolu à temps pour faire que ça arrive. En attendant, si vous avez le jeu vidéo Rock Band 2, découvrez le nouveau morceau des GN’R « Shackler’s Revenge ». J’ai joué tous les solos guitares, la guitare fretless aussi.

5. Bien, tu as déjà réalisé pas mal d’albums maintenant. Quand tu regardes en arrière, lequel est ton préféré? Lequel recommanderais-tu à quelqu’un qui découvre tout juste tes travaux en solo?

B : Mon préféré sera toujours « le PROCHAIN album… ». C’est toujours comme ça que je le ressens. Si je devais recommander un album, je voudrais leur dire de se pencher sur le plus récent « Abnormal », mais si vous me demandez lequel est le meilleur, c’est celui que je n’ai pas encore écrit et enregistré. Ce sera toujours celui là.

6. Nous vous avons vu jouer avec des guitares Gibson récemment… Les utilises-tu juste pour Guns n’Roses ou également sur « Abnormal »?

B : Tout sur « Abnormal » a été joué sur la guitare Vigier « Bumblefoot » Signature Series, la guitare Vigier Surfreter fretless, la guitare acoustique Parkwood PW370M. Il y a des informations à propos de ces guitares sur http://www.bumblefoot.com/gear.php. Pour les amplis, j’ai utilisé une tête Splawn 100W Quick Rod et un baffle 4x12, un combo Line6 Vetta2, et un combo Line6/Bogner SpiderValve.

7. Il semble que tu n’utilises pas tes guitares Vigier avec les Guns n’Roses. Pourquoi cela?

B : Gibsons va bien avec le son et le style des GN’R, mais j’utilise également la Vigier Surfreter fretless, quelques fois la Vigier Signature, également la Parkwood acoustique. J’ai également utilisé la Vigier « Flying Foot » quelques fois pour mon principal solo pendant les shows des GN’R. Mais oui, pour la plupart des shows, je joue sur une Gibson, une Les Paul, Flying V…

8. Merci beaucoup de prendre du temps pour répondre à ces quelques questions. As-tu quelque chose à ajouter pour tes fans français?

B : Vous me manquez beaucoup! J’ai l’habitude de tourner en France souvent, mais ça a été difficile d’arranger les tournées de Bumblefoot, entre l’enregistrement de mes albums, et tous les enregistrements et les tournées avec GN’R. 9. Hello Bumblefoot! You have recently release your new album « Abnormal ». Surely the most Punk influenced of your discography. Have you written it with a special concept in head, as for « Uncool »?

Greetings! The Abnormal album came to me without a plan, the songs flooded my brain and started pouring out. It was all that I was feeling, and the attitude of the album was just my attitude at the time. It wasn't a concept album like Normal, but it was a continuation of Normal, like the next chapter of a personal story. The lyrics talk about things in my life that weren't there before, and some stories about what other people are living.

10. No other musicians are mentioned for this new album. Have you done everything yourself or is there some guest musicians who have played on it?

At the very end of the lyrics inside the booklet, there are credits. Not many, but they're there, haha. Dennis Leeflang on drums, members of the "pirate metal" band "Swashbuckle" on backing vocals, a tuba player, some opera singers. I ran a contest earlier this year to find opera singers for the album and the winners sang on it.

11. You are now guitarist for Guns n’Roses… How do you feel, to play in such legendary band?

It's been great, a lot of fun times. But nothing feels different. I wipe my ass the same direction I did before playing in Guns.

12. To finish about Guns n’Roses, is the new album « Chinese democracy » really already record? When this album will finally be available?

Yes, I finished writing and playing all my guitar parts for the album, and we're hoping it can be released as soon as next month. I hope everything can be worked out in time to make that happen. Meanwhile, if you have the Rock Band 2 video game, check out the new GN'R song "Shackler's Revenge." I played all the lead guitar, fretless guitar too.

13. Well, you have released many albums now. When you look back, which one is your favourite? Which one will you recommend to someone who is just discovering your solo works?

My favorite will always be "the NEXT album..." This is always how I feel. If I had to recommend an album, I'd tell them to check out the most recent one Abnormal, but if you ask me which is the best one, it's the one I haven't written and recorded yet. It will always be this one.

14. We have seen you playing with Gibson’s guitars on recently… Are you using it just for Guns n’Roses, or also on « abnormal » ?

Everything on Abnormal was played on the Vigier "Bumblefoot" Signature Series guitar, the Vigier Surfreter fretless guitar, and the Parkwood PW370M acoustic guitar. There's info about these guitars at http://www.bumblefoot.com/gear.php. For amps, I used a Splawn 100W Quick Rod head and 4x12 cabinet, a Line6 Vetta2 combo, and a Line6/Bogner SpiderValve combo.

15. It seems you don’t use your Vigier’s guitars with Guns n’Roses. Why that?

Gibsons fit the sound and style of GN'R, but I do also use the Vigier Surfreter fretless guitar, sometimes the Vigier signature guitar, also the Parkwood acoustic guitar. I also used the Vigier "Flying Foot" guitar many times for my main solo during GN'R shows. But yes, for most of the show, I play on a Gibson, a Les Paul, Flying V...

16. Thanks a lot to take the time for answering these few questions. Have you something to add for your french fans?

I miss you all very much! I used to tour France so much, but it's been difficult to arrange Bumblefoot tours, between recording my albums, and all the recording and touring with GN'R. Hopefully I can come visit soon. Take care, and thank you for all ! !
