Firstly, Ron, we from the Perfect Crime board would like to show our
support to the current Guns line-up. We love your music. Let's begin: how
are the new songs being received in the shows?
Hello, and THANK YOU, to everyone on the board! New songs are received
well, I see plenty of people singing every word in the front of the
audience, real cool to see that.
For you, what's the funniest song to play live? (Including the old
ones.)
You mean the most fun? Funniest would have to be "Liquor & Whores" with
our friend Bubbles, haha!! I think "Used To Love Her" is a fun one...
shit, they're ALL fun...!
Do you intend keep playing Don't Cry on your solo? Have you considered
any other?
Probably, but ya never know, we'll see what happens...
On the first time Axl sang Don't Cry with you, it happend after
Paradise City. Was your solo left to the end intentionally?
Just a spontaneous thing, no two shows are exactly the same, whether it's
how the song is played or the order they're played in...
How is your routine when you're touring with Guns?
Well, two important things I learned about touring from all the years
before Guns, is... 1) get sleep whenever and wherever you can, because
you don't know when the next time will be. There was one day in Japan
that I stayed up for 43 hours, haha - a show, a party, hangin' out, an
interview and video shoot with a magazine, dinner, more hangin' out...
2) bring plenty of socks. A few years ago I did a gig, and it rained the
entire day and night, my feet ended up soaked and I didn't get to take my
wet socks off for 17 hours. When I did, my feet looked like I was dead
for 17 hours and just pulled out of a lake. Water and feet don't mix.
So yes, my routine is to sleep and keep my feet dry.
Personally, I think you and Frank made an amazing job on the new Guns
songs that have been played live. What of new or different have you tried
bringing to them?
I thank you sir. I just try to keep a good spirit to the songs, and do
whatever I think can add something of value to the songs. Like the
fretless guitar in Chinese, stuff like that.
Rhiad And The Bedouins was played live before but we haven't heard it
with your guitar yet. By the backstage pics, seems it was rehearhed. What
do you think of this song?
Cool song, lots of energy... :)
We usually see on the press wicked and untruthful reports and reviews
about Guns, Axl and the current lineup. Does it disturb you? How does the
band deal with it?
What do you mean, did someone say something bad? I didn't hear... lol.
I care about the fans, the people who care about the band, not the people
who don't.
What are the main differences between you and Buckethead?
About a foot in height.
How do you write your songs? Got any personal method?
They just come to me at any random moment, like a flash, the whole song
just appears in my head, all the parts, melodies, rhythms... then I have
to try and make it work outside of my head. If the recording doesn't give
me the same feeling it had inside my head, I ditch the song.
Have you been writing songs to a new solo album? Would you give details
on the stile, influences and what part of the process are you now?
Actually, I just ditched my whole new album. It wasn't capturing the
feeling. I'm starting fresh, gonna write all new songs. Don't have any
plan, don't know what the album will sound like, I just know that it will
be the one that was meant to be.
What have you done to develop so much ability with the guitar?
You don't have to practice for hours and hours, you just need to be very
focused mentally. And *enjoy* playing - music should be medication, not
poison. Don't get stressed, mentally or physically. Be free.
To finish: before joining Guns N' Roses, you were planning to play
South America, right? Is it possible happening yet?
I'm hoping that I can play South America when I finish a new album, and of
course with GnR - whichever comes first, whenever it is, it'll be great!

Primeiro, Ron, nós do fórum Perfect Crime gostaríamos de mostrar nosso
apoio à formação atual do Guns. Amamos a música de vocês. Comecemos: como
as músicas novas estão sendo recebidas nos shows?
Olá, e OBRIGADO a todo mundo no fórum! As novas músicas estão sendo bem
recebidas, eu vejo bastante gente cantando todas as palavras na frente da
platéia, realmente legal ver isso.
Para você, qual é a música mais divertida para tocar ao vivo? (Incluindo
as antigas.)
(Nota: eu me enrolei com o inglês e perguntei
"funniest" em vez de "most fun", criando uma dúvida se eu queria saber a
mais divertida ou a mais engraçada. Mas ele respondeu as duas opções.)
Você quer dizer a mais divertida? Mas engraçada teria que ser "Liquor &
Whores" com o nosso amigo Bubbles, haha!! Eu acho que "Used To Love Her" é
uma divertida... merda, elas são TODAS divertidas...!
Você pretende manter Don't Cry no seu solo? Já considerou alguma outra?
Provavelmente, mas nunca se sabe, veremos o que acontece...
Na primeira vez que o Axl cantou Don't Cry contigo, rolou depois de
Paradise City. O teu solo foi deixado para o fim intencionalmente?
Simplesmente uma coisa espontânea, nunca dois shows são exatamente os
mesmos, seja pela forma que a música é tocada ou pela ordem com que são
tocadas...
Como é a tua rotina quando está em turnê com o Guns?
Bom, duas coisas importantes sobre estar em turnês que eu aprendi em todos
esses anos antes do Guns, são... 1) durma em qualquer hora ou lugar que
puder, porque você nunca sabe quando será a próxima vez. Teve um dia no
Japão que eu fiquei acordado por 43 horas, haha - um show, uma festa, dei
uma volta, uma entrevista e filmagem com uma revista, jantar, mais uma
volta... 2) leve muitas meias. Alguns anos atrás eu fiz um show, e choveu
o dia e a noite inteiros, meus pés terminaram encharcados e eu não tirei
minhas meias molhadas por 17 horas. Quando o fiz, meus pés pareciam como
se eu estivesse morto por 17 horas e havia simplesmente pulado para fora
de um lago. Água e pés não combinam. Então sim, minha rotina é dormir e
manter os pés secos.
Pessoalmente, eu acho que você e o Frank fizeram um trabalho
sensacional nas novas músicas do Guns que foram tocadas ao vivo. O que de
novo ou diferente você tentou trazer para elas?
Eu te agradeço, sir. Eu simplesmente tento manter um bom espírito para as
músicas, e fazer o que quer que eu pensa que possa adicionar algo de valor
às músicas. Como a guitarra fretless em Chinese, coisas assim.
Rhiad And The Bedouins foi tocada ao vivo anteriormente mas ainda não a
ouvimos com a tua guitarra. Pelas fotos do backstage, ela foi ensaiada. O
que você pensa dessa música?
Música legal, muita energia... :)
Normalmente nós vemos na imprensa matérias e reviews maldosos ou
mentirosos sobre o Guns, Axl e a formação atual. Isto te incomoda? Como a
banda lida com isso?
O que você quer dizer, alguém falou alguma coisa ruim? Eu não ouvi...
risos. Eu me importo com os fãs, as pessoas que se importam com a banda,
não as pessoas que não.
Musicalmente, quais são as principais diferenças entre você e o
Buckethead?
Cerca de um pé em altura.
Como você compõe suas músicas? Tem algum método pessoal?
Elas simplesmente vêm até mim em algum momento aleatório, como um flash, a
música inteira simplesmete aparece na minha mente, todas as partes,
melodias, ritmos... então eu tenho que tentar e fazê-la funcionar fora da
minha cabeça. Se a gravação não me dá a mesma sensação que ela tinha
dentro da minha cabeça, eu a jogo fora.
Você esteve escrevendo músicas para um novo álbum solo? Você daria
detalhes sobre o estilo, influências e sobre qual parte do processo você
está agora?
Na verdade, eu joguei fora todo o meu novo álbum. Ele não estava
capturando o sentimento. Eu estou recomeçando, vou escrever todas as
músicas novas. Não tenho nenhum plano, não sei como o álbum vai soar, eu
só sei que vai ser aquele que deve ser.
O que você fez para desenvolver tanta habilidade com a guitarra?
Você não tem que praticar por horas e horas, você só precisa estar muito
focado mentalmente. E *gostar* de tocar - música deve ser medicação, não
veneno. Não fique estressado, mentalmente ou fisicamente. Esteja livre.
Para finalizar: antes de se juntar ao Guns N' Roses, você estava
planejando tocar na América do Sul, certo? É possível que ainda aconteça?
Eu estou na expectativa que eu possa tocar na América do Sul quando
finalizar um novo álbum, e claro com o GnR - seja qual for o primeiro,
seja quando for, será ótimo!
